"HOW DARE YOU!" King Fergus roared. "What gives you the right to come into my castle and do such a thing?!?"
Murdoch Flannen was not fazed by the King's outrage. "Your Highness," he replied cooly. "The woman asked me here. It was at her request."
"GET OUT! GET OUT NOW!!!"
The merchant bowed to his king and gathered up his clothes before leaving. This left the King and his servant in the room.
It was true that Asha and her brother Leal were his servants, but the friendship between Leal and the King resulted in a much different relationship. In the months since his arrival in Silvetia, King Fergus had looked on Asha Rhonwen as something of a younger sister. "Asha! How could you do such a thing? Why would you lay with that man? He's already married. He is not your husband!"
"Hmph, he could be…" Asha muttered darkly.
"No. Murdoch can never be your husband. You know he has a wife and he has just adopted a son. He has an heir to his land. He'll never take you as a wife, even if Amoura did die."
